KDES Competes in Historic Inaugural Middle School Boys Volleyball Quad Tournament

Frederick, MD- The inaugural Middle School Boys Volleyball Quad Tournament hosted by Maryland School for the Deaf-Frederick at Benson Gym delivered an exciting evening of competitive action Thursday May 7th, as four programs competed in the historic tournament.

KDES battled through multiple tightly contested matches and opened the evening with a split against MSD-C, claiming the first set 25-16 before dropping the second, 19-25. The Wildcats followed with another evenly matched contest against eventual tournament champion MSD-F Black, rebounding from a 21-25 first-set loss to earn a 25-18 victory in set two.

KDES later faced tournament runner-up MSD-F Orange, falling in straight sets, 19-25 and 15-25, before closing the tournament in the third-place match against MSD-C. KDES controlled the opening set with a 25-14 win, but MSD-C rallied to take the final two sets, 25-22 and 15-10, to secure third place.

MSD-F Black captured the inaugural tournament championship, followed by MSD-F Orange in second place. MSD-C earned third, while KDES finished fourth after a competitive showing across all four matches.

The historic event highlighted the continued growth of boys volleyball within the deaf school community and provided student-athletes the opportunity to compete in a high-energy, championship-style atmosphere.
