FREMONT, Calif. — The MSSD softball team concluded play at the Hoy Tournament with a 4th place finish, going 2–2 overall against a competitive six-team field.

Semifinal: MSSD 6, Indiana 7 (Extra Innings)

MSSD dropped a tough semifinal matchup to Indiana School for the Deaf, falling 7–6 in extra innings.

After a 5–5 tie through four innings, Indiana capitalized in the fifth inning under the international tiebreaker (KC rule), scoring two runs. MSSD responded with one run but came up just short.

The Eagles were limited offensively, recording only two hits over five innings.

Vyoletta Santos delivered a strong performance in the circle, pitching 5.0 innings with 9 strikeouts.

3rd Place Game: MSSD 2, Riverside 11

MSSD fell to California School for the Deaf, Riverside in the third-place game, 11–2.

Riverside jumped out to an early 4–0 lead in the first inning. MSSD answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, but Riverside maintained control throughout the game.

MSSD was held without a hit in the game, as Riverside's pitching staff recorded a no-hitter.

Brianna O'Connor started in the circle, with Vyoletta Santos coming in relief and pitching 4 innings with 7 strikeouts.
