FREMONT, Calif. — The MSSD boys volleyball team captured the National Deaf Boys Volleyball Championship, earning a back-to-back title with an impressive finish to the tournament.
Semifinal: MSSD def. California School for the Deaf, Fremont (2–1)
MSSD battled past California School for the Deaf, Fremont in a tightly contested semifinal match, 25–21, 24–26, 15–13.
Championship: MSSD def. Maryland School for the Deaf (2–0)
In the championship match, MSSD defeated Maryland School for the Deaf in straight sets, 25–23, 25–22.
The win marked a strong response after Maryland had previously defeated MSSD earlier in pool play and during the regular season, making the championship victory a statement performance.
